How to carry 3 on a Vespa GT200

Cherie & Her Dogs

This is a story of two Pugs, a Girl and a Vespa. Once upon a time (4 years ago) I met a boy called Peter at Scootopia after a mid life crisis that involved a divorce and a belly button ring (all not on the same day, well the belly button ring was but that's another story). I had a problem I needed transport! When deciding whether to get a car or a scooter I was talked into getting a scoot by a very lovely motorcycle man.

When I met Peter I was determined to buy a GT200 without test driving as I didn't want to change my mind, I know I'm a girl and its my prerogative but there was no changing this decision! Eventually I did test drive and was hooked and ordered on the spot. Peter introduced me to Audrey a very beautiful pistachio (ok technically its Verde Green) Vespa GT200. I fell in love instantly. They guys at Scootopia and now Scooter Life have looked after myself and Audrey over the years and I could not recommend them any more. Dave even remembered my last servicing k's when asked on the spot recently about when Audrey was due next. That's service!

My next dilemma with transport solved was how to get my pugs to the vet etc. This was something I should not have worried about. Lilly and Doug love it and can't get enough! Lily will even jump on board when parked under the house to say 'Mum I want to go for a ride'.

Lakeside's Small Wheel Sundays Scooter Racing

Scootopia Racing Team

Ben S

The humble scooter is a vehicle of many uses. It saves you time, money and helps you do your part to save the planet. Well, they are also great fun to race! A few times a month a group of scooter racers and people who want to test their bikes off the gazetted roads come together for some fun in the sun. These “Small Wheel Sundays” are held the driver training circuit at Lakeside Raceway, Narangba every 2nd Sunday.

Scooter racing is also a great spectator sport.

This short video was made by Rob, one of the dedicated scooter riders who support this emerging sport.

Boreen Point Scooter Rally

It's on again- Bigger and Better for '09

It’s back! Scooteroo are proud to present the Boreen Point Scooter Rally for 2009. Promising to be bigger and better than ever, this year’s event will be held over the 7th and 8th November 2009. With major sponsorship from our friends at Vespa Australia and Scootersales.com.au we will once again be providing free rally shirts for all registered attendees to the event and there will be prizes for many categories from low rider scooter through to best classic.

Last year, Scooteroo held their 2nd Annual Boreen Point Scooter Rally on the 15th and 16th of November, 2008. They saw the numbers rise from 60 people in ’07 to a fantastic 105 people in ’08 and we are expecting the same growth this year from the response we have seen so far. This year we will see people travel from all over Australia to be apart of this wonderful event.

The rally location is in keeping with Scooteroo tradition being located at the beautiful Boreen Point, approx 20km north of Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. It makes for an easy and interesting ride with any number of coastal and hinterland routes to choose from. The rally is focused around one of Australia’s oldest pubs, the Apollonian Hotel. The Apollonian Hotel is famous for its laidback atmosphere and their wonderful spit roasts, they also love scooters.

The Scooteroo Boreen Point Rally is a short rally by most standards; being for only 1 night. This format appeals to a larger number of people who can’t take a longer amount of time off work. Also being later in the year, time is tight for a lot of people so close to Christmas. This rally is also open to any form of scooter, from 50cc’s to big capacity modern autos to the restored classics from Vespa and Lambretta. Everyone is welcome and there is always something for everyone.

We will have a full list of sponsors who have donated their products as prizes for a number of categories shortly.

Super results for a Super Scooter

Vespa GTS Super

Vespa Australia report the recently released Vespa GTS 300 Super is exceeding sales forecasts, with the big bodied style icon now taking the mantle of the best selling model in the extensive Vespa family and the best selling scooter in the over 250cc market.

Super results for a Super Scooter:

Vespa Australia report the recently released Vespa GTS 300 Super is exceeding sales forecasts, with the big bodied style icon now taking the mantle of the best selling model in the extensive Vespa family and the best selling scooter in the over 250cc market.

First launched onto the Australian market in October 2008, the Super is meeting the demand for a large capacity Vespa at the sporty end of the commuter spectrum. Essentially a minimalist re-jig of Vespa's own previous number one GTS250, a combination of sports suspension, altered chassis dynamics and punchier mid range give it a sportier appeal and real world performance delivery. The combination of these factors is drawing interest from not only buyers looking to trade up from smaller capacity models, but also owners who previously sought more "Sport" in the appearance and delivery of their scooters.

"Vespa has always been a considered purchase for savvy commuters who know that commuting by Vespa is a part of life experience and not simply a means to an end", said Vespa Brand Manager Simon Gloyne. "The Super is for everyone who loves the GTS250 but simply wants more of everything from a performance perspective".

Piaggio, the manufacturer of Vespa have used this combination of power and sportier looks to much success in the past. The GS 150 and the 200 Rally were models that both broke capacity barriers with Vespa and are now two highly sort after classics. The Super is now repeating history and has become a modern classic, already earning its right to be counted as part of the Vespa legend.

The Vespa GTS300 Super is available at for $10090 RIDE AWAY including 12 months Dual Seat Registration and is available in Rosso Dragon (Bright red), Montebianco (White) and Nero Lucido (High Gloss Black)

PSI

New Piaggio X7 is just the ticket - $7835 RIDE AWAY

The elegant and distinctively designed X7 combines light weight and agility to tackle urban traffic, but with the excellent stability, road holding and protection that were previously found only on far bigger maxi scooters.

The X7 has large diameter 14-inch (front) and 13-inch (rear) wheels, and a chassis built to cope with city life and highway commuting.

Great performance is guaranteed with Piaggio’s Quasar 250cc liquid-cooled, four-valve EFI engine. It is recognised as the scooter engine the others have to beat, for its exceptional power, low consumption and reliability. An impressive 16.2kW (22hp) and 20.2Nm of torque give the X7 an exceptionally smooth ride and a top speed at the top of its category.

The X7 features a large underseat storage area for shopping and your helmet, plus the ubiquitous shopping bag hook. The X7 can also be tailored to your needs with a complete range of optional accessories, including a colour-matched 44-litre topbox and all-weather “hotcover” (lap rug). The X7 comes in a choice of three metallic finishes: Pulsar Grey, Midnight Blue and Shiny Black.

“Commuters have long lusted after a scooter that fills the gap between the smaller scooters and the bulkier maxi scooters,” said Simon Gloyne, Piaggio Brand Manager. ‘The X7 250 now fills that gap with engine and chassis features of the big maxi scooters, but without the bulk.”

The X7 retails for $7835 RIDE AWAY Including 12 Months Dual Seat Registration.

Piaggio MP3 400 Riding Experience

Recently one of the 2 Wheeled Press took a MP3 out for a Spin!

Recently Matt from Wild Media was 'let loose' on what is undoubtedly the best handling scooter on today's market!

The MP3 is so good in fact that it has just been voted 'Scooter of the Year'!

" It is so easy to get around the city, and the features are very practical. Storage Space, Parking, Performane and Handling as well as the overall build quality are all stand outs. My wife found it comfy on the back, and overall it is a fun ride!"

Another positive result for the Piaggio MP3!

Thanks Matt!
